Back in 2002, Carsten Michaelsen and Jörg Wiesmann founded Incoatec as a spin-off of the HZG (former GKSS Research Center) in a joint venture with Bruker AXS, starting up with just 4 employees. Today Incoatec has 40 employees and an annual revenue of about 6 million Euro, which certainly called for a worthy celebration:
"10 years Incoatec Day and Night",
was celebrated on June 1st.

The day started off with a workshop offering a very diversified program, where partners and customers could find out more about the official and unofficial details on Incoatec's history, and also gain a deep insight into our products and manufacturing facilities.

Furthermore they had the opportunity to present their work and give information on their experience with Incoatec and Incoatecs' products. A wide field of topics was covered: History of X-ray optics, protein crystallography, deep insight in service crystallography, small molecules crystallography, charge density studies and much more.
Embedded in the workshop was a welcome reception at lunch time during which we were joined by representatives from politics, industry and press.

After the workshop, the day was rounded off with a celebration abord the Rickmer Rickmers. This proud three-master which is Hamburg´s floating landmark, is moored in an exposed position alongside the famous "Landungsbrücken" pier in the Port of Hamburg. Together with customers, suppliers and friends, all "Incoatecies" made this summer evening a delightful and memorable event.

To avoid weighing down the Rickmer Rickmers with a sea of flowers or other gifts, we preferred making a donation to  "Aktion Kindertraum" for children in need. We therefore, asked our guests to kindly support this charity. At the end of the day the collection had reached the considerable sum of 770,00 EUR, which we then raised to 2000,00 EUR enabling  "Aktion Kinderträume" to support an urgently needed surgery.

We would like to thank all of our guests, our customers, suppliers, partners , friends and colleagues, for joining us on this memorable day. Our thanks also go out to the crew of the Rickmer Rickmers for this wonderful evening, which may not be outperformed until 2027.
