X-ray Tubes

Since more than 10 years, Incoatec is designing its own tube family - the Incoatec X-ray Tube IXT.

IXT is the first microfocus sealed tube that is designed and optimized for crystallography, while most microfocus tubes on the market were designed primarily for radiography.

Higher intensities of Incoatec´s X-ray Tube IXT are achieved by a new tube design with optimized critical tube parts, such as changing cathode and anode parameters as well as geometries and the take-off angles, increasing the brightness of the tube. Lowering the take-off angles and elongating the electron beam footprint on the anode results in a higher photon output. Our new high-brightness cathode used in the IµS DIAMOND II substantially increases the brilliance of the source. Having the complete tube technology in-house gives Incoatec the exclusive opportunity to offer the IμS with specifications not achievable with other microfocus sealed tubes on the market. The IXT tubes are used in various products of Bruker AXS GmbH and Bruker Nano GmbH for X-ray diffraction and fluorescence applications.

The iXmini Tube - Small is Beautiful

The iXmini tube is a miniature X-ray source with a size of only 10 x 10 x 30 mm3 and a maximum power of 100 mW at voltages of 4-10 kV. It comprises a miniature W filament and an anode with Cu, Fe or Mo as target material. The iXmini source is used as a non-radioactive ionization source in portable and benchtop mass spectrometers of our mother company Bruker.
